Artplus Shanghai Gallery presents Ways of Seeing, an exhibition featuring works by Sun Jing, Li Wei, and Chen Wen. Inspired by John Berger’s seminal text, the show examines the interplay of vision, cognition, and cultural context. Sun Jing’s minimalist Sacred Mountain series explores cosmic consciousness through light and form, integrating rice paper and incense-burning techniques to evoke presence and absence. Li Wei reinterprets traditional calligraphy with aluminum plates and experimental methods, merging historical heritage with contemporary expression. Chen Wen’s work investigates the relationship between natural materials and human perception, using wood, resin, and wool to create immersive experiences. Together, these artists offer fresh perspectives on visual experience and social structures, challenging conventional ways of seeing and understanding.
